Making A Vintage Pincushion

I just love Pincushions and making them from vintage pieces is one of my favorite things to do. My Daughter found several of these Milk glass candy dishes and brought them to me. I love how they can hold scissors and stitch pickers. So I decided they need to become pincushions.

I just sewed a few hexies together and stuffed it with walnut shells, lavender and batting.
And no pincushion is complete without a bit of bling.
Now I am thinking I maybe will give this one to a friend.
but which one....

These a few of my other pieces I just love!
The girl planter is perfect for pencils, rulers, scissors etc!

Comforts of Home Finishing Touches

I am getting to the finishing steps of my Comforts of Home Quilt!
I can't believe it is almost done!
The top picture is the side borders I am finishing.
And the below picture is and apron that is hanging on the clothes line block.

I have enjoyed this quilt so much but I really don't know if it ever would have been finished without my wonderful stitching husband.
It was a lot of work and I also could kick my self for not keeping up in the class years ago.
I keep saying it would have been finished by now....
This one is my favorite so far....
I say that after everyone of them....lol.....
If you haven't done one of Lori Holt's applique quilts you should.
They are all darling.

Quilting

I have been working on finishing up UFO's and I am so glad I am.
I love this quilt I am working on, its called Comforts of Home by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet.
Its an applique quilt and it has been so fun to work on.

When I do these quilts I really enjoy them because my husband is my stitcher and so we work on them together! It is so fun to see them once he adds the stitch work.

These are just a few of the squares  you can see all of the ones I have done
on my instagram account.

Every time we finish one I tell Kelly "That s my favorite one".

But I think when I am done it WILL be my favorite quilt ....
until I start the next one.

Lori has so many fun applique quilts it is hard to decide which is my favorite.

I loved playing this game as a kid so stitching it made me think of all the fun times I had with friends and family.
I can't wait to finish this one!
If you want to see more of Lori's quits you can stop by her etsy shop by clicking on this link:

Stitch It Up

I thought I would share one of my favorite pieces my husband stitched.
When we were looking for houses and decided to put an offer on the one we bought, my husband started this before the couple even accepted our offer.
He knew this was the place for us!
So our house number is in the bottom left corner.

I think this is one of my all time favorites!
Oh and the quilts he did the stitching on too!

This is where it hangs.
Love that stitcher of mine!

See how cute!

Hanging Clothes!

So pretty! All done and using this Wonderful
Clothesline "That Man of Mine" made for me!

I know I left you waiting to see the next step.
Wood putty and sanding then on to painting.

Oh wait ....
You have to see how tall before going into the ground!
Look where Kelly is pointing....
thats where it gets buried to.

I love how creative "that Man of Mine" can be.
I think its a work of Art.
Good thing I made a darling clothes pin bag to hang on it!!

Starting with a table cloth!
Kelly got me 56 clothes pins and he thinks I will need more....
hahahahaha

I had to remember my system
the clothes pin bag goes to the side
 you are going moving down.

Now I have the hang of it!

I love it! I have so many fun memories about hanging
clothes when  was young.
And leaving the laundry up through the rain a few times.

Its in and my first laundry basket full.
I think I have plenty of lines.

Fresh smelling Sheets and table cloths!

I have the best Husband ever!!!

Next I should share my Laundry Soap Recipe!
I think I love making it way more than washing clothes.

Tie Up Your Apron Strings

I love making dish towels more than just about anything.
These are 2 of my favorite patterns.
The top can be done 2 ways...
all stitching  or appliqué and stitching.

This one I designed to go with my food blog.
Summer always makes me think of canning and you need your apron for that.
Oh and a cute dish towel wouldn't hurt.
you can find these patterns at my etsy shop:

Hen Quilt

There are so many choices in Lori Holt's new book
"Farm Girl Vintage" it was hard to decide which one to do first.

This was a fun quilt to work on except for picking colors.
I hate picking colors.
I love the newspaper  print that is around the edge.

I love this quilt and I loved working on it.
I think I will do the lamb one next.

Decorating Jars

After doing my Spiced Carrots I decide to try the Free pattern that came with my copy of "Farm Girl Vintage".  You can get it free from Fat Quarter shop with your order for the book. They were so easy to make I decided I better make a several. Then I gave them away to our lastest guests around a jar of Spicy Carrots.
It makes your jars look so fancy.

Have You Made The "Bag" Yet

I had so much fun making the Bionic Gear Bag.
If you haven't made one yet you should.
It holds Everything.

And it looks so cute all closed up.

The front opens to a shelf like front and to show you how big I set my huge tomato pincushion on the front.

The pockets can hold your scissors and threads and everything.
If you haven't seen it go to:

It wasn't as hard as it looks so don't be scared!

Retreat Ready!

My sewing machine needed a table.

And since I am getting ready to go to a retreat over in Bellingham.
I decide to get a portable table for my cute little purple featherweight.
SewEzi is the one I decide on and I am soooo Glad!!!
It comes with a bag and has wheels to help move it.
And the table top is very nice.

The bag even looks cool.

Looks so good! I better sew something!

I need a cover to protect from dust!

Front with a pocket. I love this fabric line!

The Back.
Well I love this table and my machine didn't move or jiggle at all.
And it looks pretty good with my machine in it.

Henry kept stealing my chair every time I got up!
You can go see the table at:
